Ingredients
 

For rava chilla batter

  • 1 cup fine rava - suji/semolina
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp or pinch of baking soda
  • 1.5 cup buttermilk - or ½ cup sour curd

For potato stuffing

  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • Pinch of hing
  • ½ tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp green chilli paste
  • ½ cup green peas
  • Salt to taste
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp chaat masala
  • 1 cup boiled and mashed potatoes
  • Some coriander leaves
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Assembling

  • Green chutney
  • Tomato ketchup
  • 1 tsp oil
  • ¼ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp pavbhaji masala
  • Some coriander leaves

Instructions

Making rava chilla/pancake batter

  • In a mixing bowl, also add fine rava, salt, and baking soda.
  • Add buttermilk gradually and make smooth, medium thick, and pouring consistency of the batter.
  • Cover and rest it for 25 minutes so rava will puff up.

Making potato masala

  • In a pan, add oil, jeera, hing, ginger, and green chilli paste. Sauté for a minute.
  • Add green peas and salt. sprinkle some water, cover, and cook green peas on low flame till they become slightly soft.
  • Now add turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala, and chaat masala. Mix well.
  • Now add boiled and mashed potatoes. Mix well.
  • Switch off the gas, and add some coriander leaves and lemon juice. Mix well.
  • The potato stuffing is ready. keep it aside

Making stuffed rava chilla/pancake

  • Heat the tawa, grease with oil, and lower the flame.
  • Add a small quantity of batter on tawa and spread it slightly into circular motion. Make medium thick and small size chilla/pancakes
  • Add oil to the sides of the chilla and cook it slightly from both sides. Do not make it crisp.
  • Make all chilla/pancakes in the same way.
  • Take one chilla and spread coriander chutney or tomato sauce on it.
  • Then place potato stuffing on one side of the chilla.
  • Fold the chilla and ready all nashta in the same ways.
  • Now heat oil in a pan, add a little red chilli powder, pav bhaji masala, and coriander leaves. mix well.
  • Place nashta on it and roast it from both sides till it becomes crispy.
  • Serve stuffed rava chilla or sooji ka nashta with tomato ketchup or green chutney.

Notes

  • use fine rava for nashta.
  • use ½ cup sour curd instead of buttermilk.
  • make medium thick and pouring consistency of the batter.
  • rest batter for 25 minutes, so rava soaked properly.
  • lower the gas flame while spreading chilla.
  • add masala into oil gives a good flavor to masala.
  • lower the gas flame while roasting nashta with masala and oil.
