Aloo Masala toast Sandwich is a popular street-style sandwich made with a spicy and flavorful potato masala layered between slices of bread. The bread is lightly buttered and toasted until golden brown and crispy, giving the sandwich a perfect crunchy texture. This famous sandwich from Rajkot, Gujarat, is loved for its unique combination of spicy, sweet, and tangy flavours.
The potato masala is so well-seasoned that the sandwich does not require any green chutney inside. Instead, it is traditionally served with Rajkot’s special spicy peanut and green chilli chutney, which adds an extra burst of flavour and makes every bite irresistible.
This delicious sandwich is quick to prepare and makes an excellent choice for breakfast, an evening snack, or even a light meal. If you love street food with bold flavours, this Rajkot-style Aloo Masala Sandwich is definitely worth trying.
Key Tips for Making aloo toast Sandwich at Home:
✔ Perfect Sandwich Stuffing:
For the stuffing, I prepare a street-style aloo masala by sautéing everyday spices in oil to enhance their flavor. The addition of garam masala, sugar, and lemon juice gives the masala a perfect balance of spicy, sweet, and tangy flavors. Finally, I mash boiled potatoes and green peas into the masala, creating a smooth, flavorful, and well-blended stuffing.
✔ Best Bread Choice:
For the best results, I recommend using regular white sandwich bread. You can also use whole wheat or multigrain bread, but white bread gives the sandwich the most authentic street-style texture, crispiness, and taste.
✔ Serving Style:
To recreate the authentic Rajkot-style aloo masala toast sandwich, spread a generous layer of butter on the bread slices, evenly spread the prepared aloo masala, and toast the sandwich until it turns golden brown and crispy on both sides. Serve it hot with Rajkot’s famous spicy peanut-green chilli chutney for the ultimate street-food experience.
